Reading, Review & Meditation

Bible students are constantly looking for systems and methods for reading the bible that will help them to gain a clearer understanding of the Word of God.I have discovered that our understanding of God’s Word is only valid if it has been given to us through Revelation by the Holy Spirit.

These 4 principles have been revealed to me:

1) First we must pray over the Word! In praying over the Word we must invite God into our reading so that He can be our interpreter.

2) Read the Word with anticipation and eagerness. Expect to receive something that you have never received before and God will be faithful to you.

3) Review that which you have read. In reviewing the Word seek the personal examples in your life that the Word is affirming or challenging.

4) Meditate over the Word. Your meditation will assist you in digesting the “tough meat” in the Word.

These 4 principles do not necessarily follow each other in order. Often the review must take place some time later in your human experience. And meditating over the Word of God can be a long process because our human situations are forever changing.

We do not all grow humanly at the same rate; therefore we cannot all grow spiritually at the same rate.
